Meet Our Founder
As the owner of Expert ABCs, Josefina specializes in creating accounting systems that streamline operations. She draws on over 20 years of experience in accounting and business consulting, during which she has worked with numerous multi-million-dollar companies across diverse industries. Her expertise has enabled these companies to not only boost profitability from existing products and services but also reduce costs and identify and capitalize on new revenue streams.
Josefina is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Missouri and a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), an internationally recognized designation given for expertise in financial accounting decision-making. Josefina earned a Master of Science degree in Accounting and a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Accounting from Missouri State University. She also earned a dual major Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business from Drury University, earning Departmental Distinction in both areas. Her attention to detail and passion for efficiency and organization has driven her to specialize in complex business structures and operations.
Acquiring and applying knowledge and skills are Josefina’s favorite activities. She discovered her love for math at a young age, but it would be in high school that she pinpointed her calling. She learned about accounting while writing a paper and interviewed a CPA who discouraged her from going into accounting because he felt “she would not make it” in the field. However, she had already made up her mind and ignored his warning. Many years later, she still appreciates the encouragement and guidance that drove her to her specialization - forensic accounting and simplifying complex technical details or numbers for non-financial people.
Fluent in Spanish and English, Josefina has held speaking engagements and presentations on linguistics for multicultural education and diversity, accounting, young professional career education, and immigration. Reach out if you’d like her to speak for your group!
Josefina is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), its local professional chapter (Greater Ozark Chapter), and its student chapter (Missouri State University Student Chapter). She is also a member of the Missouri Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. She is involved with Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion groups through mentoring and volunteer work, and worked at Missouri State University and its nonprofit foundation.
